Family law cases involve both financial and personal issues that can dramatically affect people’s lives. The litigation of these issues in the domestic relations courts can be an intimidating prospect for the people and families who have been drawn into legal conflicts.  Attorney Jessica Malmquist became a Collaborative Fellow in 2012 and served on the CLII/CDI Board for 10 years.. Jessica practices domestic law and estate planning. Jessica believes strongly in the ability of clients to use alternative dispute resolution to retain control of the dissolution process, provide privacy and creative solutions, and prevent the involvement of the Courts for families. Although Jessica endeavors to resolve cases through amicable negotiations, she is an active and enthusiastic litigator who effectively represents her clients in litigation if required. Because of Jessica’s experience, she is able to help clients determine the best dissolution process for their needs. “I am concerned about my client’s well-being, and committed to providing every client with individualized attention that is oriented toward his or her goals,” says Jessica. “Collaborative Law allows me to help the relationship, seek an amicable resolution when possible, and allow for a mutually beneficial outcome, rather than a having it become a zero-sum game of poitn-scoring and one upmanship. Jessica is a member of the Illinois Bar Association. Lake County Bar Association, and American Bar Association, as well as a Fellow of Collaborative Divorce Illinois (CLII), and member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP). Jessica spent much of her early childhood outside the United States, and returned to the U.S. in her early teenage years, moving to Madison, Wisconsin. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Economics and Management and Psychology from Beloit College and prior to law school, Jessica was a financial analyst at Salomon Smith Barney (now JP Morgan). Jessica obtained her law degree at Case Western Reserve School of Law in Cleveland and then moved to Europe where she worked in the finance sector and earned a LLM degree in International Commercial Law at the University of Edinburgh (with distinction) and Master’s in International Economics and Finance at the University of Glasgow.  She has exclusively practiced family law since 2007 and opened Greenwich Law Group, LLC in 2018 with per law partner Alison G. Turoff.
